Mission Music Updates

Two Services: Worship Team Logistics & Weekly Rhythm

As we move toward two services, there will naturally be some adjustments to how we prepare, rehearse, and serve together. I want you to consider all of the following as guidelines with grace rather than law. None of this is set in eternal stone. If it works, great. If not, we will adjust for what best serves the team and our church family as a whole.

Weekly Rehearsal

For now, Tuesday evenings seem to be the best option for our weekly rehearsal, especially since many of you are involved in C Groups on Wednesday nights.

Our current rehearsal time is 7:00–9:00 PM. This time may adjust as we work through the new rhythm and see what works best for everyone.

One of the sacrifices I am inviting you to make as musicians is this: on the weeks you are scheduled to serve with the band, you may need to miss C Group or part of C Group in order to be at rehearsal. I know that is a sacrifice, and I don't take it lightly. At the same time, gathering together to prepare well is an important part of serving our church faithfully.

Location

Rehearsal will take place at the church building. This will allow us to sound check ahead of time, become familiar with the room, and get dialed in to what things will actually sound like on a Sunday morning.

Children at Rehearsal

As we work through these new logistics, children are welcome at rehearsal, but they must be supervised by an adult at all times.

They can either remain quietly in the auditorium with us or, if you have adults who are willing to stay with them, they can spend time in the fellowship hall. For their safety, children should not be wandering the building on their own.

This same expectation applies to Sunday mornings as well.

Sunday Morning Rehearsal

For now, please plan to arrive at 7:00 AM on Sunday mornings, ready to run through the music.

As our weekly rehearsals become more consistent and effective, my hope is that we can gradually push this time back. Ideally, Sunday morning will eventually feel more like a run-through than a full rehearsal.

However, the last thing I want is for anyone to feel rushed or underprepared on Sunday morning. I would much rather give ourselves the time we need to be ready and gradually work toward a more streamlined Sunday morning rhythm.

Thank you for being willing to make sacrifices, adjust your schedules, and serve our church in this season. As we step into two services, I am grateful for the way you continue to serve with excellence, flexibility, and grace.

Mission Music Core Values

Soul Care 1 Peter 2:9

We care about people over position. You don’t come as an artist, songwriter, or influencer. You are an image bearing child of God. After that You have gifts to offer. Your relationship with God will always take precedent over your team membership.

Expectation - Membership at Mission Church should be the trajectory every musician is on. In the meant time, being actively involved and committed to a community group and or discipleship group is a requirement for being on the Music team.

Excellence Colossians 3:23, Psalm 33:3 (Preparedness - Spiritually and practically)

Our aim is to cultivate and environment without distraction, wherein the saints lift loud their voices in responsive worship of Jesus. This means showing up prepared is vital for musical excellence.

Expectation - Team members are expected to be familiar with the songs sent out, be mindful of and contribute to arrangements, and show up prepared for practice.

Gracious Humility Romans 12:3

The best way we grow as musicians and as believers is by inviting people who love us and are committed to our growth to speak truth into our lives.

Expectation - Every worship leader at Mission Church will receive feedback in the week following their time serving. Our hope is that this feedback will cultivate humility, encourage excellence, and help us grow in faithfulness as we seek to glorify God through our service.

Creative Flourishing Genesis 1, Psalm 19:1, Colossians 3:16

Our God is a creative God. We glorify Him when we express creativity. From writing songs for our people to sing, to coming up with unique arrangements for the Sunday setlist we long for creativity driven by a love for God and His people.

Expectation - Everyone team members input is valuable. While not every idea will come to fruition, team members are encouraged to bring things to the table.
