Christ our Shepherd walks us through the valley

This Sunday we continued in Psalm 23 and walked with David through the valley of the shadow of death.

We were reminded that the valley is not outside the Shepherd’s care. Christ leads His people through dark places with His presence, His protection, and His peace.

The comfort of Psalm 23 is not that the valley disappears, but that the Shepherd walks with us through it.

For me personally, these last few weeks have been a balm for my soul. I am so grateful for Pastor Billy’s commitment to preaching the word and I know you are too.

As I am on deck to preach this week, I cannot tell you how excited I am that we are in Psalm 23.

The Psalms are the songbook of Jesus. They give us words for our prayers that cover the full array of human emotion. Seriously, if you have never prayed through a Psalm, it will change your prayer life. If you don’t know what I am talking about or where to begin, check out this video.

If you read this newsletter often, you know that whenever I leave a note here, I’m probably going to share some music with you. Sing The Psalms is meant to be played on shuffle. I encourage you to listen with your family, especially if you have kids. This is probably the easiest way to memorize scripture as a family.

When you do this you are fulfilling Colossians 3:16 which says:

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

I can’t wait to walk through Psalm 23:5 with you on Sunday. I invite you to show up ready to sing loud the praises of our King.

Child Dedication Sunday is a special time for families to publicly commit to raising their children in faith, surrounded by the support of our church community.

As a church, we come alongside these parents to pray, support, and encourage them as they disciple their children to know and follow Christ.
