Christ The Shepherd-King Welcomes Us To His Victory Feast

In the middle of valleys, enemies, and uncertainty, we were reminded that God’s grace is far deeper and more personal than we often believe. The Shepherd does not merely sustain His people, He welcomes them, serves them, and fills their cup to overflowing.

Ultimately, Psalm 23 points us to Jesus, the Shepherd-King who invites sinners to His victory feast through His finished work on the cross.

Mission Church,

As we head into summer, I’m genuinely excited for what’s ahead at Mission Church. Over the next several weeks we’ll begin a new series called To The Next Generation, looking at God’s call to faithfully pass the gospel down from one generation to the next. From Psalm 78 to Titus 2, we’ll be reminded that the faithfulness of God is meant to be declared, displayed, and handed down.

One line that has stayed with me as I think about this series comes from Count Zinzendorf: “Preach the gospel, die, and be forgotten.”

There’s something deeply freeing and beautiful about that vision. Our lives are not ultimately about building our own platform, reputation, or legacy. They are about making much of Jesus and pouring ourselves out so that others would know Him long after we are gone.
Right now, one of the clearest ways we can do that is by investing in the next generation.

This summer as part of this series we’ll celebrate one of our Big Sundays alongside VBS. It is one of the greatest opportunities we have all year to open our doors to families, welcome children into our church, and clearly proclaim the hope of Christ. Seeds planted in a child’s life today may bear fruit for decades to come.

So I want to encourage you to begin praying now. Pray for the children who will walk through our doors. Pray for families in Burke County. Pray about how you might serve. And pray about who you can invite. (be sure to head over to missionchurchvbs.com to register and learn more)

May God make us a church that gladly spends itself so the gospel would continue from generation to generation.

Child Dedication Sunday is a special time for families to publicly commit to raising their children in faith, surrounded by the support of our church community. 

As a church, we come alongside these parents to pray, support, and encourage them as they disciple their children to know and follow Christ.
