When men forget who they are, everything breaks, but Christ renews.

This Sunday we began a new series looking at manhood through the lens of the gospel.

We saw the tension so many men feel right now, caught between passivity and posturing neither of which reflect what we were made for.

Ezekiel 22 showed us what happens when men forget who they are… but more importantly, how Christ steps into the gap where we failed.

This isn’t a call to try harder. It’s a call to be made new.

Mission Men This Saturday!

We’ll meet at South Mountains State Park at 9:30 AM.

After we hang out, eat, and spend some time together, we’ll have the option to go for a group hike. The trails are mostly easy to moderate, so anyone who wants to join in can.

It’s a great chance to connect with other guys, be encouraged, and just enjoy being outside in God’s creation.

We started into our new sermon series, Renewed Men yesterday.

The aim was to be honest with where things are. There is a real and present gap we feel in our world and it’s not “out there” it’s present here in our homes and lives. The goal of this series is not to pile it on or to ask people to man up. The aim is to point to Christ, the one who renews us from the inside out. The one who begins the work in us that results in change around us.

I want to be clear, this isn’t just for them. As I said yesterday all of us are shaped by the men around us.

So I want to humbly ask for your prayers.

Specifically, to the women of Mission Church. We need your prayers. Pray for the men. Pray that we would not settle for passivity or a distorted version of strength. Pray that the Spirit would do the work only he can do. Pray that God would form men that know him, love sacrificially, and show up with courage and humility. Pray for me by name. Your husbands, your sons, your brothers. Pray and ask the Lord to give you great hope.

Let’s all pray and ask God to do a great work among us.

All of our Easter yard signs need to be collected, and we are turning the cleanup into an opportunity for Mission Youth.

Mission Church teens are invited to help collect signs around the community, earning $5 in camp credit for every sign they return.

So grab a friend and start collecting! Then bring your collected signs to Mission Youth on Sunday.
