Classrooms and more!
You might notice the faint smell of fresh paint as you come down to the Mission Kids classrooms recently. That is because we are slowly repainting and designing four out of our 5 classrooms! The vision for our classrooms makeover is based off of the Christian classic, "Pilgrims Progress". Are you surprised?? If you've been around for a bit, you know that Billy and I LOVE this story.
Pilgrims Progress was written in the late 1600's by John Bunyan and is an allegory for the Christian life. A man named Christian is on a journey to get to the Celestial City (heaven) and is met with constant struggle, temptation, doubt and more.
As we open a fifth classroom I thought this would be a great chance to redo the rooms and even add a theme into the mix!
The idea is that as a child grows and moves up to the next classroom, they are also moving up in their journey of faith just like the character Christian. So each classroom will have a theme from Pilgrims Progress to represent the growing up in faith.
Nursery- The Beginning- God loves Me
Prek- The Narrow Gate- Follow Jesus
Early Learners K—1st- The King’s Path- Keep Going
Lower Elm 2nd-3rd-The Summit- Grow in Faith
Upper Elm 4th-5th- The Journey- Keep Going
Our classroom time is set up in such a way that mirrors what our Sunday morning service upstairs is. What happens on a Sunday morning service, worship, prayer, scripture reading and teaching. We desire for our classrooms to have these same things. As our children grow, their classroom and teaching grow with them, with age appropriate growth such as the Upper Elm has way more teaching and discussion than the Pre-K room who has more play!
What a JOY and HONOR it is to come alongside of you all in the discipleship of your children. A true joy of my life. Come check out the new classrooms. Our goal is to have all four completed by Aug 23rd for MOVE UP SUNDAY!
