Member Meeting Recap: Building Gospel Culture at Mission Church
We had a wonderful Member Meeting recently filled with exciting updates, vision casting, and important reminders about the direction and heart of Mission Church. If you missed it, here's a quick recap:
Discipleship Update (Brad Wilcox)
Brad emphasized the vital role of discipleship at Mission Church, reminding us of the three spheres of connection:
Sunday Gathering – The "front door" where we collectively worship and hear the gospel proclaimed.
Community Groups – The "dining room table," where we share life with a broader circle of friends.
Discipleship Groups – The "living room conversation," spaces designed for deeper spiritual formation and accountability.
Brad encouraged us all to prayerfully consider either leading, hosting, or getting involved in Community Groups and urged everyone to connect deeper through Discipleship Groups.
Vision Update: Cultivating a Gospel Culture (Billy Glosson)
Billy cast a compelling vision for cultivating a Gospel Culture at Mission Church:
Gospel Culture Defined: It's about living out grace tangibly among our church family, moving beyond merely correct doctrine to doctrine embodied in our relationships.
Why Gospel Culture Matters: Our church life should reflect the beauty of the gospel we believe, making grace visible through gentleness, humility, honesty, and kindness. Our actions either affirm or undermine our message of grace.
Core Elements of Our Gospel Culture:
Gospel: Regular reminders and immersion in the good news of Jesus.
Safety: A community free from shame, accusation, and fear, fostering openness and vulnerability.
Time: Allowing patient, deep, genuine transformation to occur without pressure or unrealistic expectations.
Building Gospel Culture Together:
Practice honesty and humility.
Actively honor and encourage each other (Romans 12:10).
Engage in gentle, compassionate correction.
Dangers to Watch Out For:
Self-righteousness and legalism
Gossip and slander
Impatience and unrealistic pressure
Neglecting honest vulnerability
Billy invited each of us into this vision—to actively participate in cultivating this gospel-saturated culture where real transformation happens.

We’re thrilled to share some exciting developments on our staff team that reflect God’s provision and our church’s continued growth:
-
Michael Tooley
ASSOCIATE PASTOR
Michael Tooley has officially stepped into a full-time role as Associate Pastor! Michael has faithfully served our church in many ways—especially in worship and discipleship—and we’re overjoyed to see him step more fully into this pastoral calling.
-
Melanie Jones
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Melanie Jones is our new part-time Administrative Assistant. Melanie will primarily serve as Billy’s assistant, helping with communication, scheduling, and administrative tasks that keep things running smoothly.
Financial Update (Michael Tooley)
Michael shared a powerful financial update rooted in the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:20–29), reminding us that we are called not to bury what God has entrusted to us, but to invest it boldly in His kingdom. It was a timely encouragement: our resources are not for preservation, but for participation in God’s redemptive work.
Praise God! Despite a year of significant change, we ended 2024 financially healthy:
Brought in: $265,000
Spent: $251,000
Net Gain: $14,000
Cash on Hand: $220,000
For 2025, we're prayerfully stepping forward with a proposed budget of $300,000, reflecting consistent growth and investment in our core values:
Renewal: Leadership development, pastoral care, church planting – $2,200/month ($26,400 annual)
Community: Kids ministry, discipleship resources, outreach (Big House Ministry, CRBA) – $2,045/month ($24,540 annual)
Worship: Equipment, discipleship education, aesthetics – $2,480/month ($29,760 annual)
Hospitality: Facilities care, community events, communications – $2,838/month ($34,056 annual)
These investments directly reflect our heart for ministry and our desire to faithfully steward the resources God has provided. Each dollar is a seed sown—invested not in comfort, but in Kingdom impact. Let’s keep stepping forward, trusting God for the harvest.
Facilities Update (Alex Bustle)
Alex celebrated the significant improvements made this past year, including new chairs, updated lighting, and the stage remodel. Looking forward, we still have essential projects:
Baptismal repairs: Necessary maintenance to ensure our baptismal remains functional and welcoming.
Carpet Replacement: The carpet throughout the building is significantly worn and needs replacing. This project would include painting and repairing the plaster and will cost around $25000-30000
We've established a specific fund for these facility enhancements and invite everyone to contribute towards maintaining a welcoming and excellent space for ministry
Thank you for being part of our church family. By God’s grace, let’s keep growing together as a people shaped by the gospel—walking in truth, extending grace, and bearing one another’s burdens in love.
With these changes, if you need to connect with Billy, the easiest and most efficient way is now through Melanie.
