Parents as disciple makers
If your child was at church on August 23rd they came home with one of these bracelets as a celebration of our Move Up Sunday!
The statements that we often say in Mission Kids is, "the Bible is God’s true word, it is from God and about God, and it is true! We wanted to provide something for your kids to take home to help memorize God’s word to know Him and love Him more.
"God is good and does good." Psalm 119:68.
We picked this verse because our desire is for all of Mission Kids to know that truth at their core. Not just for when they grow up and are adult Christians, BUT RIGHT NOW! Right now when they are struggling in school. Right now when they are fighting with their siblings. Right now when home life isn't going well. Right now when they get sick.
Scripture memorization is a beautiful spiritual discipline that we get to teach and share with our kids. Similar to working out, the spiritual discipline of scripture memorization is training our hearts and minds to love and trust God when life's circumstances threaten to tell us otherwise.
And as much as we love, love, love, partnering with YOU-parents-as disciple makers on Sundays, YOU are their main discipler. You know them the best and love them the most! So as much as this truth is for your kids, parents, please be working this spiritual disciple out for yourself. Pick one scripture a week, and commit to memorizing it for your own soul!
